If you are taking pain medication after the surgery are you still able to breastfeed? How does it affect the baby?

I had my C-Section on the 16th and the prescription meds I had while in hospital were breastfeeding safe. Since coming home, I have just been taking Advil and Tylenol. As my doctors told me, also safe while breastfeeding. As long as your doctor knows you plan to breastfeeding, they will not give you anything that will interfere with that.

I didn’t get any real pain meds. They sent me home with a bottle of extra strength Tylenol. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad though!

Motrin I believe is fine to take. Just discuss it with your doctor and then in the hospital the lactation consultant. They’ll prescribe you pain meds more than likely.
 A little tip from my mom who’s had 2 c sections If you do get a csection bring a pillow from home for the ride home it’ll help when ur driving and there’s bumps hold the pillow against your stomach. 😊
