How Did You Get a New Job When Moving to a New Place? (Read)

Me and my wife are planning on moving states in the near future and I was wondering how you would/did handle getting a new job when moving. Because to me it seems irresponsible to wait until after you move to start looking for work in a whole new place. How did you handle this?

It really depends on your financial situation and the availability of jobs in your new area.

I moved from upstate eastern New York to western PA (8 hours away) to a place I’d never been before. I wanted to have a job lined up so I went online and looked up businesses that fit what I wanted to do and contacted one I wanted to work for via their jobs email and explained that I was moving to the are and would be moving in the month of —- and added my resume. I did this like as soon as I knew we were moving, so a few months in advance and they luckily allowed me to do my two interviews over Skype, and then the job I work at required a drug test so I just took that when I moved to the area.

Me moved abroad, to a different country. We didnt have a social service number for that country so we couldnt do anything. 
No insurance
No bank account
No job
How do you get this number? Well with an appointment for which you need 2 things
A local phone number (I had my brothers) and an adress. Oh and the waiting time was over a month. So even though I made the appointment before ariving I had to wait a month to do ANYTHING.
90% of stores here dont even accept cash. It was a horror without a bank card.
So we knew this was going to happen and planned for it.
We budgeted an extra month of rent food etc in, on top of our savings for the move we already had. 
We also checked the job market intensively to make sure we could quickly find jobs and we did.
Its all about how you plan it.

My husband and are planning to try to move this summer. My husband has a job he is going to transfer so he will be set when we move and then I will start looking when we get there. That way we have at least one income determined prior to moving. If he can’t get the transfer, we aren’t moving.
