PCOS diagnosis?
Ladies, how difficult was it for you to get the PCOS diagnosis? Why I mean by that is that I know a lot of girls personally that fought and fought to get their doctors to take them seriously about their symptoms and get them help. So, I’m just wondering if it’s even worth me going to my doctor, or if I should just deal with it.
I began having PCOS symptoms at age 14 when I began gaining weight slowly but steadily, which progressed ultimately to obesity by the time I was 24. I have VERY painful and irregular periods... always have, sometimes I would have to wear actual adult diapers because my flow was so heavy. The acne, the hair loss, depression, no libido, insomnia... literally I have every single symptom.
When I was 22 I went to my doctor begging for help because I had gained 20 lbs in ONE MONTH. Meanwhile I was dieting and working out 2 hrs per day. She literally looked at me and told me I was lying and that there was no way I was eating healthy or exercising with that much weight gain.
At 24 I went to my OB/GYN and asked for help for my infertility. My doctor looked over my chart, looked right at me and said “lose weight, that should help.” I told him once again that I have extreme trouble losing weight, so he said.. “try exercising”
Why won’t anyone take me seriously? I feel like a prisoner in my own body at this point. I’m afraid of diabetes, and other weight related health issues, but I feel so stuck. Sorry for the rant I’m just so frustrated 😩
