Looking into adoption?

Hey guys, I’m 22 years old I’m a nursing student and I plan on looking into adopting a child when I finish school in a year and become stable, etc. I just have a few questions. Would my age be an issue with trying to adopt? Can I adopt a newborn? As in take him/her home with me from the hospital after mom gave birth and Can I chose the gender? Also is the adoption process very tedious? Thanks in advance for feedback

Unless you’re adopting an older child from state custody the chances of you choosing the gender are none. Newborn adoptions are even more rare, and the family has to choose you. The chances of an adoptive family choosing a young single woman as an adoptive parent are slim to none. I was just watching a show where a single 30something went to an appointment with an adoption agency and they basically told her to kick rocks. She asked about international adoption and was told there were BMI requirements she didn’t meet so that’s out too. I’d schedule an appointment with an adoption agency, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Kids aren’t puppies, you don’t pick them out of a cabbage patch 😂🤣😂🤣😂

No you can't chose the gender and getting a newborn is really hard and expensive since you'd have to sponsor the birth mother financially and pay for her medical bills. Do some research, sounds like your heart is in the right place but you don't really understand how hard it actually is, and how financially draining (and emotionally draining) it can be.

Yes, your age will be an issue. As will the fact that you’re single. It is possible to adopt a newborn but very hard. No, you don’t normally get to choose the gender. Yes, it is a very long, expensive and tedious process.

Good luck. And unfortunately they make it so hard for good people to adopt which is unfortunate because  there are so many kids who need to be adopted but stay in the system instead.
