Is a middle name necessary?

Picking a baby name has been a challenge for me. Between being indecisive, going from loving names to disliking them, to hearing people’s opinions/comments about names I’ve like. I’m basically fed up with the process. At this point I won’t be sharing my daughters name until she’s born. Which is annoying because picking a baby should be fun and special. Anyways, I’ve been tossing around the idea of having no middle name. I don’t feel like my daughter would go without. Is a middle name necessary?

I know two people who doesn't have one. One hates it and has always wanted one. The other doesn't care.
Personally I think they're handy to distinguish identity from anyone else, past present or future, who might have the same first and last names. It's a big world, lots of people.

They’re not necessary, but I personally like them. I think they distinguish you from someone who may have your first and last name, and it’s just cute to have a second name. But it’s definitely not a necessity.

Neither of my brothers have a middle name and they’ve always been irritated about it, one of them made one up and if anyone asks he says that’s it 🤷🏻‍♀️

My dad doesn’t have a middle name. He’s a twin but my grandma didn’t know until delivery (can you imagine???) so she used the two names she had for each of the babies and didn’t give them middle names. :-)  he never minded.

My daughter is Ellie-Jane Marie Williams 
The middle name was important to me because (before I knew the sex) if it was a boy the middle name would have been Garry which is my dad, but she was a girl & I wanted the middle name for a girl my mams name.
Me and my partner have decided that if this is a girl the middle name will be my grandmothers name but if it’s a boy my dads name 
I think it depends on how the name as a whole flows.
I don’t have a middle name nor do my sisters. 
If you don’t want a middle name for your child that’s fine me & my sisters don’t have a middle name & we turned out fine, the only thing I will say is if one of your children has a middle name & two do (or vice versa) they might be a little annoyed.
My sisters are double barrelled names but I am not & it always bugged me that considering my name is Jemmalee & it is literally pronounced as Jemma-Lee  it would have been perfect to double barrel it, but I feel like am the odd one out without the hyphen in my name.

I know a girl who has no middle name. Coincidentally, her husband has two middle names. I guess he just made up for it. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

My grandma wasn’t given a middle name and ever since i was young till now we’ve probably talked about a middle name for her 3 times in 25 years. It literally has never bothered her. If you don’t want to give your child a middle name that’s fine if you do that’s fine also.

My friends name is Monteray, she doesn’t have a middle name and it’s never bugged her. I think it’s fine without one.
