Vasectomy @ 24 w/ 2 children

My husband and I both agree that we are content with our 2 children. We have a boy and will soon have a girl in a couple weeks. We’ve spoken to doctors and they agreed to do the vasectomy only after she is born and a couple months after she’s born. So probably by fall or winter he will be in the clear to get one. My worries are what if we change our minds later on? What if 5-10 years down the line we want a 3rd child? Our reasoning for 2 is that we know that’s what we can handle and afford. We also don’t want to have to buy another vehicle because ours are paid out right. Our children will be 2 years apart. So my son will be 2 when she’s born. I’m just scared because I see it as being permanent and I would never make him go back and reverse it just in hopes to make another child that may not even be possible.

I’ve also had a terrible pregnancy this time around and have wanted it to be over since 8 weeks. When it comes to big decisions like this, it always leaves me second guessing or just over thinking it. Like this is what we want, but I have a small sliver of doubt. Just because it’s permanent.

We chose a vasectomy because I don’t do well with birth control, and we didn’t want another scare. I don’t like IUDs, and the hormones alone do a number on my mental health. Getting my tubes tied won’t help much because I can still get pregnant. So, a vasectomy just seemed like the smartest option. Anyone’s husband this age get a vasectomy? Do you guys regret it or not?
