Prenatals?

Hi. I’m 17 and pregnant (please don’t judge). No one knows yet and I’m pretty nervous about telling anyone. I want to go get prenatal vitamins because I know I’m supposed to but idk the advantages to it or anything. I’m a little lost here if anyone could help me out. thank u.

It doesn’t really matter what kind you get or where as long as it has at least 500mcg of folic acid. If you want to go above and beyond, DHA is also really good for brain development. The ones I get are just pills at Walmart for like $4 and it’s 3 months worth I think. Good luck!

You can get them anywhere. Walmart, dollar general, cvs. :)

Prenatals are very important. I’m 18 and 12 weeks pregnant. When I found out the first thing I did was go buy some . Some of them are pricy , but the ones I buy are by a brand called nature’s bounty and are only 9$ at Walmart (: good luck

I take the Walmart brand of women’s one a day prenatal and they’re around $8. They have the same ingredients as the name brand just different prices. I take both pills before I go to bed just so I can avoid throwing them up. Good luck!

Unless you eat an extremely balanced diet focused on the nutrients vital for the baby’s development, you’ll need a prenatal vitamin to supplement those needs. You can always ask your pharmacist to help you decide. 
My research has clarified a lot of things for me though. You want Folate and not folic acid. Folic acid is synthetic and not easily absorbed. You don’t want a vitamin that has both iron and calcium because calcium blocks the absorption of iron. 
I take smartypants prenatal gummies, barimelts iron & vitamin C and I drink milk and eat cheese and Greek yogurt for the calcium. That’s what works for me.

Very important I have taken the gummies you might want to try them out I know some women have nausea when it comes to the giant pills. Never had any issues with gummies!

The advantage of taking them is it doesn’t rob your body of all those vitamins and minerals that you need to create a baby. So that’s why everyone always says you need to take them. If you don’t you will still be fine but could rob you and the baby of the added vitamins needed.
