Switching to combo feeding. How much & how often?

I’ve grown to absolutely hate breastfeeding so we’re switching to combo feeding today.

Formula during the day, breast before bed and for his night feeding. I have so many questions. I haven’t mustered up the courage to ask my pediatrician yet because our ped is my dad and I’m afraid he’ll judge me for quitting...

Questions:

My LO is 2 months old and 11 lbs. How many ounces do you give per feeding? How often does your baby eat? Do you feed on demand? What is the max number of ounces he should get in a day?

Just a thought bc a lot of parents don’t know this and I didn’t either until I started researching formula....American formula has a lot of toxic chemicals in its formula (along with our food) even the organic formula made by Similac has 26 harmful ingredients. I bought Hipp from Germany. It is truly organic and Europe’s laws for regulating organic are much stricter than here in the states. If you chose to go this route the best website is organicstart.com. There are 3 sites that are the most trusted to buy this from but I find this one to be the cheapest and delivered the fastest. There are different brands to chose from but it’s all what you prefer. My son did 100% better on this formula and I now have him on the stage 4 toddler milk. Sry for the long post and I hope it helps! I know it’s not really what you were asking but you can find the answer to your questions on that site as well! It just makes me mad what they put in our babies food, it’s bad enough in ours! I thought I had to share! 😜

I switched my 7 week old to combo feeding at 4 weeks. I started out with formula during the day and breast at night, but became difficult with my work schedule. Also after talking to my OB at my 6 week PP appointment, she told me to still gice breastmilk as often as possible for the nutrition( I started to pump so I can use bottles instead of directly breast). So now I mainly give her breastmilk bottles while I am home, and formula for whoever is watching her or if I just want/need a break and someone else wants to feed her. As for how much, the type of formula you use should have instructions for that on the container. We use Enfamil Gentlease. She started eating 2 ounces at a time every couple of hours. She had her first full 4 ounce bottle last night and another this morning. I still feed her on demand, but I do try to sooth her first in case she isnt actually hungry. Let your LO tell you when they are hungry and DEFINITELY SEEK ADVICE FROM YOUR DAD. He may judge you but it is 100% his job to give you any help and advice you need for your baby.

I started out EBF but I became an under producer and had to start supplementing with formula. I think once my LO turns 4 months old (next week) I’m going to switch her completely onto formula. I would make her formula based on how much I could pump and/or follow the 1-1.5oz/Hr rule. So if she took a 3 hour nap and she woke up hungry I’d make her a 3-4.5oz bottle. Just remember that formula babies poop a little different than EBF babies! And continue to make sure that they are producing enough wet diapers. Watch out for constipation and gas issues.
