Newborn photo cost

I’m due in June and have been looking at photographers for newborn pics and the photographer I love literally charges $950?! I was so caught off guard by this price! Is this the norm? I’m so disappointed because I just cannot spend that much on photos. It does include edited photos and a certain number of prints but even so I think it’s crazy. What did you ladies pay for newborn pics?

Ps I’m in Santa Barbara California so that may be why it’s so damn expensive!
