Got a cold and sore throat. What medicine is safe to take?

I am 6 weeks pregnant and have recently caught a cold and a sore throat. 
My head is pounding and I would like to take something for this. I took some paracetamol yesterday and have been eating strepsils but they don’t seem to be helping shift this.

I don’t know about the pregnancy safety, so you may have to look it up, but I have bad reactions to cold medicine so I take garlic and oregano and it works wonders for me. You buy them super concentrated in capsules, just putting lots of seasoning on your food won’t do anything lol 
The oregano helps clear congestion and the garlic helps out your immune system and acts like a natural antibiotic
