So long story short a man passed away in the apartment across the hall from me and was there for 14 days before my husband and I contacted the leasing office. Before he was discovered there was no smell but every since then it has been awful. He also had 3 cats and the smell of sulfur and ammonia is strong. It has now been 13 days since and management hasn’t started cleaning out the apartment. We gave it a week before saying anything the first time due to the unfortunate circumstances. My husband has since contacted the health department but nothing yet. I’m also 7 weeks pregnant and have extreme nausea and no longer feel comfortable in my own apartment. I also feel extremely guilty with this whole situation and I’m not trying to be insensitive. My husband and I are considering breaking lease and finding another place to live. Has anyone had to break lease and how did you go about this?
