Am I just stressing for no reason?

Question

Hi ladies, my fiancé recently got a new job (today) where he’ll be working 7am-7pm with an hour drive home. Putting him here at 8. We started arguing because even though he will be bringing home good money for us, I’m scared that when our daughter is born in July that she’s not going to have a relationship with him...being gone so much. Im also obviously super emotional and I feel like he’s going to miss a lot but I also don’t know if I’m over reacting. Any thoughts?

🤷🏼‍♀️ Gotta make bacon. My husband and I own a restaurant and during the high season he works 8am - 10pm seven days a week. I work 9-5 seven days a week. We just don’t have another way until we get out of the service industry. Despite that, we’ve got a great relationship with our daughter and do our best to make the most of the time we have together. My main complaint is how exhausting it can be to be the #1 caretaker... I’ve got the utmost respect for single moms doing it on their own!

I understand your concern. My husband works in construction and it can be seasonal with him working 70+ hours in the summer of course when both of our children will be born 🤷🏻‍♀️ at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much time they have together but they do with that time. It’s also important to remember to get y’all a time in there too💗 it will take work but it will balance itself out.

I'd be worried, too, but honestly with my toddler, she sees her dad for a few minutes in the am and for about 1.5 hours before bed. Weekdays are better. She loves that dude more than me (who she also sees mostly nights and weekends because of daycare). We both feel that we have a great relationship with her. It's quality of time, not quantity. Hubby and I took turns doing night feeds and stuff. We always have some kind of an adventure (even just to the park) on weekends. We also make a point to eat together at the table whenever we can.

My husband works 12 hour shifts and he still has an amazing relationship with our daughter. Granted he has 2 days off during the week and works every other weekend so there are days where he is home all day. It’s stressful at times but they will definitely create a bond.

My husband is in the military and his current work schedule is crazy. He’s working from around 6am-8-9pm every day and sometimes he has to sleep one or multiple days at work. 
It’s something to worry about for sure but I wouldn’t go overboard stressing or arguing. A few months in is it possible for his hours to lighten up?
