Are condoms the safest way to have sex?

So I’ve always used condoms as the only method of birth control but I feel like I should be taking something else for extra precaution? I’ve been very careful with sex and I’ve considered going on the pill but I have history of breast cancer in my family that doesn’t allow me to take hormonal contraception... Any suggestions?

Condoms are great if used properly, but most people don’t use them perfectly, so things like breaks and leaks happen which makes them less effective. I suggest a very reliable method like an iud or the implant. They’re all progestin only methods which I’m pretty sure is safe for women at risk for breast cancer. Best thing to do is consult your doctor.
