What is it like to be a mother?

I hear a lot of negative things about becoming a parent. No free time, can't  travel, strains marraige, etc. I want to know what is it like for you? I would like to be a mother but I'm wondering if all these downsides are true. I want to understand what is required of me before i start trying to conceive. Are there more hardships than good?

Being a mom is the hardest most rewarding thing ever. It is all those hard things and so much more but it is also unconditional love even on your worst day they still love you, the best memories i have are of my son. I never knew how much I could love another person before my kid and I would never wish to not be a mom.

I don’t think anyone is truly prepared for a baby, and no one can really appreciate how hard being a new mother can be. Everyone jokes about sleep deprivation with new parents, but no really.... those first few months were pretty much a blur. Nights and days run together, and it can easily strain a marriage. Hormones are a real rollercoaster, and you can feel crazy sometimes. 
That being said, when you get past the newborn stage, things get a bit easier and you find your groove. Nothing can melt your heart like your baby saying “mom” or smiling at you. Before my son, I thought I never wanted kids, and even as hard as the first few months are, I’m still trying for #2. So, yes, I’d say the pros far outweigh the cons.

Our relationship has never had any issues due to kids, my husband actually hates traveling but my son loves it so we go on camping trips in the summer together, and I’m currently having alone time to watch Charmed by myself while my son is in bed and the hubby is working overtime. 🤷🏻‍♀️ with or without kids, life is what you make it.

Yes when kids are brought into the picture things change. My marriage went completely downhill after having a baby for about 6 months. You can still have free time after a baby, the first months suck. But when they get older and into a routine things get better. You also can travel with kids, just takes more planning.
That being said, being a mother has been one of the most beautiful things in my life and I would not change it for anything.

Moms looooove to be negative on motherhood and it drives me absolutely nuts. It's such a negative, horrible space. It's completely what you make of it and it's only as challenging as you make it. My daughter in no way makes my life miserable. We still travel very often and I have time to myself daily. I still shower, do my hair and makeup, and get dressed every single morning no problem. I still hit the gym 5 days a week and have coffee dates with friends, and weekly date nights with my husband. My husband and I didn't go into parenthood without thinking first. We had a very strong and stable marriage prior to having our daughter and it's even stronger now since having her. Our marriage is the foundation of our family so it's always at the top of our priorities list no matter what. We know our priorities in our home and we stick to them 100%. We love being parents and want many more little ones in the future.

There are definitely not more hardships than good. There are a lot more benefits than negatives. I wasn’t sure I was ready for motherhood and I was so scared but holding that baby made me realize my purpose in life. You do go through some hard things like breastfeeding if you choose to do that (I did and it was really hard the first 3 months), not going out, no real time to yourself... but it’s all worth it. Once they start getting older it becomes easier and harder at the same time. Once they stop breastfeeding or formula you have to make their meals. Once they start crawling you have to baby-proof everything and once they start walking... forget it. Lol. But it’s more of a reward than giving anything up. My son is 17 months now and my husband and I have not gone on a date just us but that’s because he doesn’t trust babysitters. It’s different for everyone but I would definitely suggest trying rather than to not because of some negative things you’ll have to deal with. It’s all for the well being of the child

I was just talking to my mom about this . Ok so before i had my daughter i was so excited but i was always hearing “ oh you’ll miss your free time , date nights , partying , etc( I’m youngish I’m 22)”. Well my and my husband had been married a little less than 2 years before We had her. I thought maybe I’d miss it a little bit , and i might be crazy, but let me tell you i don’t . I absolutely love being a mom. I just recently started working again part time and coming home after work to see my daughter face light up is amazing . I love reading to her , taking family trips, going to the park, etc . I love cuddling with her . I love seeing her grow everyday learning more and more . She’s almost 8 months and these 8 months have been the best of my life . She’s a good baby, very clingy to me though so as long as i have her , no tears ! Not gonna lie, the only hard thing for me is the sleeping . She co sleeps with us and she’ll roll over and crawl to find me then sleeps right on me or tried to rip out my boob to breastfeed 😂so other than lack of sleep it’s easy to me with just one . Idk how i would handle splitting my time between two babies so we’re not planning anymore, at least not for a while . But one, in my opinion , is easy especially if you have a good husband , which i have . But my baby girl is my whole world , never for a second would i wanna go back to the life with no responsibilities, never do i wish i would’ve waited . She’s my whole life, my rainbow baby, my dream come true . It may sound fake , but honest to god she makes me feel complete .

I love being a mother. There are a lot of things I can't do that I used to, but there are also a lot of new things I do now, but couldn't do before. It's just a different chapter in my life.

For me all the downsides are worth it. I LOVE everyday day with my daughter. Yes I have little free time, it's exhausting, travel is limited to what is suitable for a baby, I've experienced marriage troubles, I've sat up for the wee hours nursing a sick child when all my body wants to do is fall asleep in exhaustion.
But I had the wondrous experience of creating a life inside my body. 
The absolute joy of seeing her heartbeat on ultrasound and feeling intense protective love.
The extreme emotions of giving birth and holding my child on my chest for the first time.
Everyday I get to watch her learn and grow into a little person, with her own individual personality and a cheeky sense of humour. 
I am fascinated to see how she will develop and what sort of person she will become.
