MENTAL HEALTH SELF CARE TIPS
This is for anyone who struggles with a mental illness. ♥️
Having a mental illness is exactly like having a physical illness and it should be treated with the same seriousness.
[ I have C-PTSD, MDD, OCD, GAD, and Panic Disorder. ]
Over the past 4 years, I have been in therapy, admitted for suicidal ideation, and practically lived within a mental health unit. I came out of the unit feeling a bit lighter. I was medicated and had no contact with the outside world. I was happier.
However, I had to continue to return to the unit for daily therapy for seven weeks afterward. During those seven weeks I learned MANY coping skills.
With my own individual therapy sessions with my psychiatrist, I learned even more techniques.
Mental health is all about management and practicing self care. Managing it can be daunting yet, powerfully possible.
Here are some suggestions I was given:
SET ALARMS. Make them soft alarms but with reminders on them of your goals for the day.

SET REMINDERS! This is also extremely important - especially when you don’t have the energy to do anything. It’s the perfect way to focus on the main objectives to feeling better.
Here are mine:

JOURNAL. I know, we’ve all heard this, and it can be annoying. We’re rarely given prompts and are told to just go ahead and journal.

Remember, you are worth it. You can manage your symptoms. You are powerful.
