What does giving birth feel like? And how do you get through the pain?

I've been wondering what it feels like to give birth, what I should expect. I always hear it hurts like hell etc, but anyone that can describe the pain,  how to push and what it feels like in general?

It hurts, but it’s survivable. We’re built for it. 
Seven babies naturally. There’s not a snowballs chance in hell I’d ever have an epidural. 
Look at doing a Hypnobirthing course. A lot of what happens to you during labour and delivery, including pain, comes down to your frame of mind and approach to it all.

I felt no pain due to an epidural 😂 felt absolutely nothing. It was amazing. I’m on my second baby and I’m so scared to go natural

My first two children the pain wasn’t too bad. The contractions just feel like waves of tightening and become more painful as they become closer. For me the pain was like a more intense menstrual cramp. Pushing is the same as a bowel movement. I got pain meds with both when I was dilated to a 10 so I was numb for the pushing part. 
My 3rd & 4th babies were born quickly (3 hrs for 3rd and my 4th my entire labor was 53 minutes) They were both terribly painful. I thought I was going to die and gave up at one point. My contractions immediately started out super intense and felt like I was being repeatedly stabbed in the stomach and back and I didn’t have to push because my body was doing it for me. When both of them were crowning it felt like someone set my lady parts on fire and the after birth contractions were just as bad as my labor contractions. So you really won’t know until you go into labor how it’ll be. People always say I was lucky for the 53 min labor and it was by far my worse labor and delivery and I would gladly take my 24+ hour labor any day. Some women are lucky and don’t have much pain at all. My best friend was completely med free and she said it only hurt like a 4 out 10

For me the worst part was vomiting and shaking uncontrollably. The pain wasn't what was foremost in my mind, although the pain could have been causing the vomiting. I had pitocin though so that could have influenced my experience. I ended up getting an epidural.

As a FTM  you don't really know what to expect it's like a period cramp but it can be in your back as well. It's intense you have to control your breathing for sure try and breath through them. I looked up a hypno birthing course on YouTube and got the counts down and I feel like that helped me a lot. When you get close to pushing it's contractions aren't as bad but when it's time to push girl you better push like your life depends on it! And the ring off fire is REAL!!! Just keep pushing! Lol

the pain is pretty hard to explain the only way i really know how to say it is it feels like a bowling ball is moving down into your vaginal and putting a bunch of pressure on it and then really really bad period cramps along with it (i’m talking like worst pain in your life) and pushing is just like pushing for a bowel movement. Hope that helps a little! there really is no way to know for sure ahead of time :/
