Should you love your spouse more than your children?

Boo said he’d always love me more than our children. I said if our house burnt down, I’d want him to save the kids before me. I’d want the kids to be first. He asked if I loved him more than our kids. How do I respond? So I figured I’d take a poll to see where everyone stands.

I love my husband more because he made my child. Of course you would get kids over your partner in a burning house. They're kids. They can't fend for themselves as well as an adult. I love my child so insanely much, but I can't look at her without thinking "I'm so thankful to your daddy"

Its different types of love..... cant compare it. Love for your children is unconditional. Love for your husband is romantic and you choosing to be in love with eachother each day, and continuously proving that love. Your kid doesnt have to prove themselves to you everyday for you to love them.... you made them. They’re part of you.  Its so different.

My husband and I constantly get into an argument about this. He admitted he gets jealous of the love I have for my son. But I’m a stay at home mom and give my son everything he needs. We also had him long before we married He’s young and needs me a lot more than my husband needs me. I don’t think it’s a “ love more”, deal. I have love for both in different ways.🤷🏼‍♀️

They love each other differently. You can love each other the same amount, one is just maternal and the other romantic. Naturally it seems like mom loves the children more as it is natural instinct to spend more time with them to ensure their survival etc

I refuse to quantify my love. In a case where I had to choose my husband or my child to save, I would choose my child because my husband would have a better chance of surviving without my help and my kids depend on me. I would hope he would make the same decision for the same reason.

My take is that you will always have a natural love for your children, but it takes work to love your spouse eternally. Therefore, I think it’s important to prioritize your spouse in some things. However, most parents (men and women) would save their kids first because they are not as capable of getting themselves out of the house in a fire for example.

I love my SOs nieces and nephews more than him and have told him straight up that if something were happening, I would save them before him. I even had  nightmare once where I saved them from a murderer. Of course I would save him too if I could. That makes me feel like if we do have children, I’ll feel the same at about them.
