Losing a friendship

So my best friend who was the matron of honor in my wedding just told me we’re no longer friends. I announced the name we chose for our baby today and she lost her mind. We’ve had this name picked out since I was 12 weeks along but we’re keeping it to ourselves until we FULLY decided. I mentioned it to her when I was around 14 weeks and she told me she loved the name so much that she was going to use it for her son (who’s 3 now) but her husband didn’t like it so they went with something else and that was the end of the conversation. I should also mention that she has 3 kids and her husband got a vasectomy, she’s said many times she’s done having kids so she won’t be using the name.

Today when I announced it publicly she told me I was selfish for choosing to name my baby a name that she loved so much and that she felt hurt and disrespected. She told me if I didn’t chose another name that we were no longer friends.

I’m blown away right now. She won’t be using the name and I had NO idea she was going to use it for her son until I mentioned that we chose that name for our son. She isn’t having any more kids. And even if she was, I don’t get the big deal on kids having the same name.

My feelings are so hurt right now and I’m so upset. This seems like such a petty thing to end a friendship over. 😢
