eating too much??

my baby is 3 weeks old and eating anywhere between 4-5 1/2 oz of formula every 2 hours , he will cry right after a feeding if he doesnt get enough he was also an 8lb baby , anybody else have this issue ?

I'm in the same boat. My baby girl is 3 weeks old today and she eats like a maniac. I can't even take the bottle out of her mouth to burp her she goes ballistic. She was born at 6lbs 12oz so she isn't a big baby at all but all she wants to do is eat. I make her 4oz and she drinks it so quickly and then not even an hour later sometimes she is crying for more. I just give her what she wants. When she is full she stops drinking. We went to the doctors a few days ago and she was 7lbs 14oz she is gaining lots of weight and doctor didn't seem concerned that she was gaining weight too quickly. So just feed him when he is hungry.

No. Feed on demand and if baby is still crying afterwards add more ounces. There isn’t a set amount on how much a baby should be eating. Feed until they’re full. My nephew was eating 8oz his second week.

My doctor said I shouldn’t feed my baby more than 32 ozs in a day regardless of their weight/age. If your baby is consistently eating that much I’d talk to your doctor about it.
