What does it mean when someone says “my baby’s measuring in the 3rd percentile” or 5th, or 90th. Just curious 🤷🏼‍♀️

Imagine there is 100 babies. Baby 1 is the smallest and baby 100 is the biggest, and from number 1 each number is a bit bigger until you reach 100. If your baby is measuring 50th centile they would be number 50 in the line.

If you’re in the 3rd percentile, 97 percent of babies measured larger. So if you were in the 90th percentile, only 10% of babies measured larger. Etc.
