Potluck wedding

My friend is getting married it’s a pretty casual wedding not to fancy. They are doing a potluck Wedding, if you don’t know a potluck is where everyone cooks and brings a dish to share with everyone. I know they are doing this because it will be financially difficult to afford food for everyone in there financial situation. I personally don’t mind and am excited because I consider myself a self proclaimed professional chief lol so I’m like cooking for people. So some other friends that were invited were talking to me and saying how tacky it is to do that for a wedding and we’re talking crap about it. So what’s your opinion would you do a potluck wedding or do you think it’s fine or do you think it’s tacky?
