Why is there so many people who hate their MILs

Why is there so many people who hate their MILs? 
I am surprised on how many post I see about terrible mother in laws. I personally hate my mil and so does my husband and she is no longer apart of his life he cut her out when she did something unforgivable. I thought I was alone with having such a terrible mother in law. But after downloading this app I realized I’m not alone 😂
I feel like all us girls with shitty mother in laws need to get together for a party where we drink 🍷 and talk shit about our MILs to make us feel better 😂

Moms of sons are just weird. I had an older friend explain it to me. She said you have your daughters your whole life, but your son is only your son until he takes a wife. I think that sentiment is sad. I think there’s a negative stigma around men being manly and in charge and don’t need their mamas when they’re grownup anymore. So MILs get jealous which I think is weird on its own. I’m not trying to compete with my MIL for some imaginary role she has in her head. She’s always his mama, and I’m the wife. It’s two different positions to me but it’s like they don’t see it that way.

My ex MIL was horrible, she’d call me other girls names to get to me. She’d tell her son not to be with me because I have a daughter. She’d blame me for him acting up. I caused her son to “disrespect” her, everything was my fault.. 
she would tell her son he deserved better because I didn’t want to be in the nursing field 
She can control her son but not me
ohhhh am I glad I’m not a part of that family anymore.

My MIL and GMIL are horrible. I have literally taken up journaling to get my anger out so I'm not constantly complaining or blowing up on my husband about it. My husband told me tonight he has gotten to the point where he is basically just numb to his family's bullshit. Which I find very sad. My MIL likes to bring me up in a negative tone for no good reason, literally everything is typically made to be my fault. She doesn't feel comfortable, it's my fault. She hasn't met my 6 month old or seen my 2.5 year old since August, it's my fault. My husband won't re-add her on social media (after she deleted him) it's my fault. I haven't reached out since SHE talked shit about my family, so again, my fault. She is a passive aggressive, lying, manipulative bitch. I honestly don't care to ever see her again. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That being said, if and when my husband is on good terms with her I will support him. I will NOT allow her to see my kids until my husband and her are good for at least a month.  If they can be on good terms then I will support them having a relationship with his mother but they need to be on good terms for at least a month. Idk if that's harsh or not, I was going to post and ask for opinions on it but haven't. I just hate how she feels like she can come in and out of their lives. (This isn't the first time she hasn't seen my son in many months. We've already told her twice she can't come in and out like she does. -- She doesn't even live far.)

Coming from a fairly normal level of dysfunction, I didn’t truly understand my husband’s family dynamics. I knew that he and his siblings disrespected their parents, and that made me really uncomfortable, but I naively tried to bring everyone together on holidays, or weekends, whatever. It wasn’t until I was better acquainted, that I understood how petty, shallow, and small-minded my MIL actually was. She would make offhand comments about people, myself included, gossip to the point where I never told her ANYTHING personal. Even knowing all that, I still didn’t understand the hostility in my husband’s family. It wasn’t until 10 years in, that I was talking with SIL over a bottle of wine while vacationing, that I learned how MIL up and left the family. That led to FIL leaving all the kids to their own devices, and they all went crazy. One SIL got hooked up with drugs, which ruined (and eventually ended) her life, and ruined and all of her kids’ lives, through addiction, prostitution, death... All while the inlaws stood by and did nothing. My husband tried to get custody of one nephew, but he was sent back to his father, where he got hooked on heroin.
It left my husband with terrible emotional scars, the extent of which I had no idea until i was already married. It has affected our lives and our kids’ lives, in the treatment they receive from their father, and the shuns they receive from their grandmother. 
MIL has told me point blank on, multiple occasions that she prefers her daughters, and her daughters’ daughters over her other kids and grandkids. She knows nothing about what my kids are into, their likes, hobbies, etc. I stopped trying to force the relationship when I realized that my sons didn’t care to be around the inlaws. 
Through all of this, there’s still this unhealthy relationship between my husband and his mother. Heaven forbid I not be the bigger person and try to make nice with her. 
It is my dream to one day tell her EXACTLY what I think of her.
