On your 36 week checkup will they check if you dilated or not?

My 36 week check up is on Monday and I was curious on what they usually do on that appointment, will they check the position of the baby & check for any dilation? Or do I have to ask for that

I would prepare yourself for an exam, yes. I worked in OB for years and after 35 weeks we completed a vaginal swab (Group B Strep) & did a vaginal exam to ensure baby’s head down. Checking for dilation/thinning isn’t the purpose of this exam, but a lot of moms are curious of course so the physician will let them know if they are or not.

I think it depends on the dr and your situation. My OB usually feels around my stomach at the point to know if baby is in position or breech. She also did check me with my second baby as I live 3.5 hours from the hospital and my first came early, so she wanted to be sure I didn’t need to stay.

I doubt they will check unless you are higher risk. Full term I ant until. 40 weeks.

I don’t think they’ll check,,I’m 38 weeks and never been checked to see if I’m dilated.

No point really, doesn’t tell you anything. My midwife and obgyn doesn’t even bother to check before the overdue control.
