Same happened to me. I feel you. It was a hard decision to me🤷🏻‍♀️ but i felt i still love my ex in a very special way, never felt before. it was hard to say goodbye to my ‘new bf’ when he was only but nice to me. I felt shame😪
So I went back to my ex 1 year ago and no regeret. A few months later he proposed and now we are on TTC#1.

I'll start with some background. I was with my kids father for 7 years (kyle) and about 3 years ago shit was getting rough. Red flags were coming to me and I finally found out he was cheating. So we split and I started getting out meeting new people and friends and thats how I met my now partner (cole). Just so happened cole and I both had ended 7 year relationships and were going through all the emotions and we became best friends. Id call him crying and hed call me crying and then we kind of set our mind to "were getting through this together". 9 months later we were getting feelings for each other. We went out on dates with other people but always found ourselves together at the end of the day. Eating, watching movies, all the cute food fights, mud fights. We ended up making it official. I think I was scared to get too ahead of myself bc I had horrible past relationship experiences and cole and I had kids with our exes. I had the chance to get back with my ex and "work on my family". Let me tell you how much I fucked up by doing that. I let kyle come back and I realized within the first 2 weeks after all of those months he did not change as I grew into a more self loving and happy person he was still the miserable lazy piece of shit and my heart kept taking me back to all of the fun times I had with cole. Cole (who actually lived down the street from me) would do the drive by and every time I left I would see cole walking with his kids and even though I hurt him by getting back with my ex he still loved me, he acted like he wasnt hurt but he was. Finally one day kyle and I got into it and we were in the car and I told kyle "your not going to change and my heart is with cole" 
Kyle pulled over in front of coles house and told me to get the fuck out. Cole happened to be on the front porch and jumped up and said "you can leave her here with me and you can leave her car too". I hurt him bad and then I turned around and have had to prove it to him over the years that I really did love him or I wouldnt of came back but not only did I hurt cole I also hurt kyle by leading him on and letting him think we could make it work. So my advice to you is if you are in the same situation if there is someone else then the ex is not an option bc if so there wouldnt be anyone else. Cole and I had so much foundation and trust built starting a friendship and turning it into a relationship and since I did that I broke his trust and were pretty great but it took a while for me to build his trust. I can only apologize so many times. So dont give into your ex but show him the type of person you are without him its rare that people change. Cole and I are on two years now going strong we have a house, we have our kids and were trying for our own baby. We are best friends. It was the best decision I made to cut my loses and move forward.
