*UPDATE Ectopic timeline* Trigger warning- ectopic rupture

I am 5 weeks 5 days pregnant. I had an early miscarriage in January so this would be our rainbow baby. At 5+2 and 5+3 I had heavy spotting in the mornings and nothing in the evenings. It looked brownish red and didn’t soak a pad so I wasn’t too concerned but called my OB 2 days ago (5+3) and they told me to go to the ER. I clarified that I hadn’t even soaked a pad and the pain that I did have was only when I stood up after sitting a while. They still told me to go in.

Bloodwork showed and increased bhcg from 145 last week to 1,057 this week so still pregnant.

US showed nothing in my uterus but showed a 9.9cm cyst, possibly dermoid in the right adnexa.

Yesterday and today no pain or bleeding.

Those of you who’ve had ectopic pregnancies or suspected ectopic, do I have any hope? I thought that ectopic pregnancies are rare.

I’m seeing my OBGYN today and am praying that we see something in my uterus.

*UPDATE*

Bloodwork went from 1,057 to 1,972 two days later. Still no intrauterine pregnancy.

Then 2 days after that my hcg only increased to 3200.

I just went in today at 6 + 2 and it was confirmed to be ectopic. I got the methotrexate shot. 😢

UPDATE - It was Ectopic 😭 I typed out a timeline to help me wrap my mind around what happened.

6:50pm -decided to go to the ED to get pain relief. I didn’t think the pain was any less or more than the pain from my last ED visit, the only difference was that it wasn’t contraction-like. It hurt my rectum to stand so we called 911 - I was still coherent, pain slightly relieved in side lying position, abdomen tender and flat. As soon as I was loaded on the stretcher I felt like passing out. My vision blanked white and then I vomited. Felt present and aware again with severe pain. BP 108/63.

7:00pm - ED - felt like passing out again. BP 90/60. Two liters fluid infused immediately via 2 16 gauge lines. Ultrasound showed our 9 and half week old baby in my left tube (measured 8 weeks 4 days old). My abdomen was now distended. Hgb 11, the doctors didn’t trust that value and ordered blood to be ready in the operating room. Surgeon was called out of an emergency c-section. The surgeon ran me to the OR on a stretcher joking that there should be a camera crew following us. I added that someone should be doing fake CPR to complete the scene.

I was put under anesthesia. As soon as they cut me open blood was spilling over the table. Surgeon said I was one of his top 3 cases as far as amount of blood loss. I lost 2-3 liters (66% of my total). They kept trying to draw blood to check my hgb during surgery and they couldn’t because my veins kept collapsing. I received 2 units of blood during the surgery. My left Fallopian tube was removed with our baby and my right ovary was removed with the 4” mass (turned out to be a teratoma/dermoid cyst unrelated to my pregnancy) as it had overtaken the ovary.

I came out of surgery in severe pain and was sent to the ICU and given another unit of blood.
