I wouldn’t stress it. Honestly as a mom of 3 my oldest will be 12 this year. I’ve always told my kids their behavior is never based on other people’s behavior an that just because some one acts one way doesn’t mean they’re allowed to. And they’re emotions are not based on the way others act either! They’re their own person! But as far as your mom goes if you really do wanna approach it again I would just be blunt and tell her you Dnt appreciate her behavior and the way she says and does certain things and use that day as a example. And let her know if she cantstop making everything about her when it’s was your child’s day then you’ll be cutting her off

There's nothing wrong with sending her that message, but if she were going to receive it well you wouldn't have to send it in the first place. I would have limited contact with her and if she does something like that again maybe respond in the moment that she should probably just leave now. If she says things that you are not comfortable with in front of your child you might have to be the one to leave. Sadly I don't think she's ever going to be the grandmother that you want for your son. Best of luck!💕

My mother is toxic and currently in jail. My son just turned 5 and hasn't seen her in 9 months. When he was born she started to clean up her act & I realized it should be his decision on whether or not he wants her in his life... That being said, it's our responsibility as parents to keep our children safe and away from unnecessary toxicity. When/if she's ever out of jail, I won't let her see him. I want nothing to do with her. She may be family but it isn't worth it. If he decides he wants a relationship with her after he's 18 (or old enough to understand what kind of person she is) that would be his choice. Until then, she's not allowed that privilege.
