Why don’t you want to get married?

For those who don’t want to get married...I like to hear your reasons! 🙂

I don’t feel the need. I’ve been with my boyfriend for 7 years and he’s close to perfect to me. I’m comfortable, stable, supported, and very loved. I don’t really see how marriage would add anything to my life, other than legalities that I really don’t care to deal with. 
My mom really doesn’t understand my point of view and always says “don’t you want the security that marriage provides?” But to me, marriage doesn’t provide that, people will still do what they do with or without the marriage title. Plus I’m not worried about any of that. 
We’ve talked about having a celebration with all of our friends and family. That would be fun. Ill just leave out the papers.

I just don’t want to.  I’m in an exclusive relationship for four years.  We own properties together, we’re each other’s POA’s in case something were to happen to the other.  We’re very happy.  I don’t find that me taking his last name, and getting a piece of paper from the government changes anything about our relationship.  Our commitment doesn’t change if he’s my husband or my partner.  I just don’t feel it changes anything.  I don’t care about a ring, I don’t care about the party, and we vacation enough we’ve had many a honeymoon.  I like things just as they are.
