Families with other children. Has your baby gotten sick when one of your older one was?

Its the second time in 6 weeks since my baby was born that his older brother (2yo) got sick (had a stomach thing and then a cold with cough) and passed it on to the baby 🤦🏻‍♀️ doctors keep telling us that it’s really rare for a baby this small to get sick, but I can’t help but think what other families with toddler do? I mean they generally get sick pretty frequently and how do they not pass it on to the baby?

My Son is 4 weeks and is just getting over a cold he caught from ME. I’ve read that between the first year babies will get sick several times especially if around other young children. My son is not around other young children and I never leave the house so I’m not sure how we got sick but we did and we are fine 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not sure what type of cold your baby has caught but it’s been very tame for us. No fever just mucous and only two “vomits”. We believe it was from him swallowing the post nasal drip. Maybe see another doctor or call a different doctors nurse and see what they have to say. Hope your doctor doesn’t have you feeling crappy for having a sick baby, it’s a normal thing and nothing to be ashamed of!

I’m so happy 6 year old nephew brought flew to the house gave it to boyfriend mil and his dad. Me and baby perfectly fine my boyfriend took care of him for a long time before realizing he had the flu.

So they technically aren't my children but I nanny a 4yr old and 2yr old and bring my son to work with me. They had colds over the weekend and I went to work on Wednesday. Made sure they kept their distance and didn't touch baby but he still got a cold. Little cough here and there and a stuffy nose.

I have four other children.. Ages almost 2, 4, 5 and 6.. And thankfully none of them have gotten sick from baby is here.. They are normally bringing something home

My 4yo got it from pre-K and gave everyone the mucous overload with a cough. Poor baby was coughing while nursing 😣

My 2yo had a cold (fever, cough, blocked nose, the works) and, as much as I tried to stop him, would still kiss my 8 week old and cough all over him. Baby didn't even get the sniffles 🤷‍♀️. I am ebf though so my milk would've changed to give him all the antibodies he needed but still, I am amazed baby didn't get it.

My babies had a stuffy nose/congestion and then my toddler got it after! I also had it, so I probably passed it but I wasn’t expecting my oldest to catch the cold too.

My 5 week old has a cold and he’s an only child.  He’s hardly left my house so I’m thinking it’s just seasonal allergies since our pollen count here in Houston is super high right now and we are having 20-30 degree temperature swings every week.
