My husband has loved Lucas and i thought it was a nice name but its so popular and basic but i really dont like the thought of him having others in his classes and i was trying to find something a little bit different but ive been thinking about it more and it just fits our baby so i think i might reconsider but it still just feels so basic so im torn

Maybe find a few others you like and when he gets here see which one feels right. 
I like the name and dont think it’s basic. I have only known one Lucas.

I had the same feeling about a name I love - I just am not okay with it trending or being / becoming too popular which is all that’s holding me back.  But someone pointed out to me that it’s probably not as common as you think!   Especially with the kinds of names that are trending lately. 
I’ve only ever known one Lucas. 
My daughters name is Bailey(which is pretty basic/common) and we have yet to meet another kid or baby named Bailey!   (She’s 6)

I went through the same thing. My husband fell in love with the name Emma for our daughter and while I really liked it I didn’t like how popular it was and wanted something less common. As time went on though it just felt more and more like that was her name and I’m glad we went with it now it completely suits her :)

I'm not a fan of this name personally. 
 
I'd say you should make an effort to find a name you both like just as much or more.  If you can, awesome. If you can't, then maybe you'll feel better about Lucas since you confirmed you like it better than anything else!
