Forceful letdown?

Anyone else have a forceful letdown?. My almost 3 week old becomes very upset and has difficult time breastfeeding midway through feeds and often results in her having a little meltdown. I feel sad about it I want eating to be enjoyable for her. Any advice? Does this supply/demand thing sort itself out eventually?

Google the laid back nursing position. My lactation consultant said this position helps them control the amount of milk they get at once so they don’t choke. I have been using it for a week and baby has had no more issues.

I’m in the same boat. It doesn’t happen every time but when it does she pulls off and coughs and spits and my boob keeps squirting milk everywhere!  I pump between feedings and that seems to help.

It will sort itself out, for now I use a haakaa on the side with the forceful letdown and catch some of the milk to freeze for later and feed first on the other side.

I had the same thing 😞 but my nurse advised to put her on the breast and let her start to bring on the let down. Then take her off and express the milk until you can see the let down stops and then re latch. It really helped but I'm still doing it at 4 weeks. Just make sure your breast is drained after feeds... No lumps. I got mastitis from having oversupply 🙁

I have the same thing. This morning my poor babe choked and couldn’t take a breath for a good 30 seconds. I jumped up and grabbed him and blew in his face to help him breath again but pretty much everytime I feed him he can’t keep up with swallowing when I have a let down. He’s two weeks today but I remember this happening with my other two kids for a few months.

I have the same problem. Try pumping a few minutes before seeding your babe.

YES!!!! I’ve been using my Haaka to catch it and get rid of some milk. I also have an oversupply 🙁
