Does anyone else let their baby cry out?

My 9 week old can be SO stubborn at times, when he has been fed, changed and had playtime I can see that he's exhausted but he will keep fighting sleep. So I've started putting him up to his cot when I noticed he is tired he will cry out for about 5 minutes then falls straight asleep... I feel kind of bad for letting him cry out but I know how cranky he gets if he doesn't have a nap. Anyone else do this? 😕

Oh man that’s fine. Sometimes our little guy cannot be consoled and there’s nothing else to do but let him cry a bit. He will eventually fall asleep. Sometimes it’s either hold him and let him cry or put him down and save our sanity.

It’s fine. I’ve even asked my Dr if it’s ok to let baby cry it out for a nap. My ped said a baby at 3 months shouldn’t be awake more than 2 hours ever or they will be overstimulated. She suggested putting him down and swaddling him at least every 2 hours. I have a colic baby who cries a lot and sometimes when they need sleep they’re better off in a dark room with a sound maker in their bed. We also have a toddler who makes noise constantly so it’s cry it out for a little and nap or be held and don’t nap all day. I promise you your baby will be just fine, don’t let people guilt you about it.

If my LO is over tired he will cry endlessly until he falls asleep. Sometimes I will stand right next to his crib and just pat him while trying to get him to go down even if he’s scream crying. Other times he has to be rocked to go to sleep. I think if you’re standing right there reassuring baby they aren’t alone I don’t see why letting them cry for a few minutes when it’s clear they are just tired is a bad thing.

5 minutes isn’t bad. It’s hard to hear your baby cry, but if it’s just 5 minutes and he goes to sleep, then I think that’s fine! If it was like 30 minutes, then I would say 9 weeks is too young. In the beginning when my baby would cry and we didn’t know why, I told my husband if she cried, she didn’t need to cry alone. So we would always be with her! We just didn’t know what else to do if we had met all her needs so we just held her and she would cry til she was done. She is much easier now at 12 weeks! Haha

That’s totally fine, I think up to about 6 minutes is ok for that age. Sometimes that’s what they need to make themselves self settle. Just don’t let babe cry too long. But that’s not long. I think it’s fine. ( don’t do it myself as I can’t handle 30 seconds of crying, but wish I could, my first is 2 and still doesn’t sleep) good luck!

My ped gave us the ok to try cry it out at 2 months. We did it with my first and 2 years later he’s still an amazing sleeper (7 pm-7 am) in his own room. After two days he was sleeping through the night
