At what age did your baby start sleeping on his/her tummy? My 3 month old won’t sleep any other way... it scares me a little bit.

Not until they could roll in both directions and hold their heads up and steady AND only if they put themselves in that position. It was different for all my babies. My son is 5 months and hates being on his belly thankfully. You should still continue to put your baby on their back to sleep though and don’t place them on their belly if he hasn’t gotten there by himself.

3ish weeks for naps. 1.5/2 months he was rolling over himself and if I flipped him he’d roll right back.

I let my son sleep on his belly during the day while I was up, he slept better and he wasnt on the back of his head so often that way. At night definitely on his back, but once he started rolling hes been a belly sleeper ever since.

My first son I think he first rolled over in the middle of night and slept on his belly at 4 months. If I saw it I would remove him to his back. My youngest son who is currently 3 months hasn’t rolled over yet and doesn’t enjoy laying on his belly at all.

Your child won't sleep in other positions because YOU are choosing to put them on their belly where they're unsafe. Our daughter started sleeping on her belly sometime between 3 and 4 months or so when SHE started rolling herself to that position. Even now at almost 2 years old, I still always lay her down on her back. Then from there, she can choose how she wants to sleep.

For those who think it’s okay to place their babies on their bellies to sleep...

Putting your babies to sleep on their bellies is a dangerous practice. Please heed the warning of the AAP and place them on their backs to reduce chocking, suffocation, and SIDS. It’s basic biology. The trachea is above the esophagus when a baby is laying on their backs. When laying on their bellies, the airway can become compromised especially when they spit up. Please, please place infants on their backs for safe sleep.
