Advice??

Question

So, I had a tonsillectomy 9 days ago. I'm scheduled to go back to both jobs tomorrow which makes the minimum 10 days of recovery. Both jobs require me to speak if that matters. While I'll admit that isn't isn't as excruciating as the days prior, I'm still in pain and require my pain meds. What I'm asking is, do you all think I should suck it up and go or take a few more extra days to see how I feel?

I would wait to go back at least until after the two week mark. You will have to start weaning off pain meds soon, and the healing part when your scans start coming off was honestly one of the worst parts for me. Your throat and mouth get so dry, and I remember trying to talk during that stage was the hardest. I was a teacher at a day care when I had mine, and I needed every bit of the 2 weeks I took off. I was still really struggling when I went back, but it was not as bad as it could have been if I had gone back just a few days earlier. You need to make sure you are drinking at least a few sips of water every 20 minutes or so to keep hydrated and to keep your throat from drying out and becoming painful. Best of luck to you!!
