Balloon induction to open cervix??

Question

Anyone know anything about this? My OB mentioned it and I go in tomorrow for an induction but don't know much about it? Is is painful? Do you still do pitocin?

I was induced this way last week, along with a pill that I’m forgetting.  Putting the balloon in was very uncomfortable but it was effective.  I was 5cm dilated within a few hours.  Pitocin would have been next for me but I ended up with an emergency c section (not because of the induction though).

I had this and I have no complaint about it!! It helped me go from being dilated at a small 2 to a good 4 in less than 2 hours. It’s not really painful once it’s inserted, even though the first maybe 30 minutes feel like PMS. Once they saw that baby was doing fine with it and I could be unplugged I used the birthing ball and then I walked. It was absolutely not painful (unlike laying on the bed). Then the balloons fell off by themselves 😊
