How to keep newborn warm at night ?

So I’m having my baby next week and the one thing I can’t seem to find an answer to is how should I put him to bed? Our rooms tends to be cold because we can’t sleep at all if it’s too hot and I was planning on swaddling him but I’m not sure if that’s enough to keep him warm. Our apartment doesn’t have a thermostat it’s just a switch that turns the ac on so I can’t monitor the temp. So what else can I do to make sure he stays warm at night? I know if I put a loose blanket over the risk of sids is higher so what do you experienced mothers suggest?

Get a sleep sack! Carters has some really nice ones on sale at Kohl’s and Carters.com right now. Also Halo sleep sacks are really nice. Just make sure you don’t use the weighted sleep sacks like Nested Bean because they have been shown to increase risk of asphyxiation

Our house is set at 64 we had a baby in December and put him to bed in footie pjs and a swaddle and he is fine!

We do cotton footed pajamas and her swaddle and shes fine. We keep our room around 68. You don’t want to over bundle them because over heating can increase sids. You’ll learn what your baby prefers though, my girl gets warm very quickly so if I put anymore layers on her she cries because she’s too hot.

Pjs always one piece with the feet and a sleep sack or swaddled of the room was extra cold I’d put a hat on him

Halo sleepers were helpful! My baby always gets warm when he sleeps . Our room tends to be in the colder side and I like it like that but you have to do what you have to do for your baby... so we had a space heater run some nights. We also would place a heating pad in his bassinet before we put him in it and then take it out right before we lie him down. Seemed to work ☺️

I also got these sleep gowns which are light weight but make diaper changes at night super convenient.

A wool baklava oh, it's just like a onesie but has a headpiece attached and your baby will stay warm but not overly warm.  wool is also the only material known in the world that can be wet and still hold its warmth it doesn't start to feel damp until at least a third of its weight is wet. So if your baby has an accident overnight your baby won't get cold from a soaking wet diaper.

Depends on how cold, but you can do footed sleeper with a onsie and socks underneath and a sleep sack on top. The come in different fabrics so you can choose one that is warmer, if needed.
