Skipping a period?

Okay so my boyfriends prom is next month and technically according to eve and my pills I should get my period the week of the prom or around the day of it. I know how to skip a period on birth control but I have more specific questions that I can’t find anywhere online and I don’t see my obgyn until next month so if anyone has like experience with skipping their periods can you answer these questions:

Did it work the first time you tried to skip your period?

Did you still experience any pms symptoms? Like bloating or breaking out?
