Alternatives to the rock and play?

We used the rock and play for sleeping with our first two and LOVED it! Now that it’s been recalled, I’m scared to use it and looking for an alternative. Something that has a slight incline and portable? We plan on keeping baby in our room with us for the first few months, but I’m uncomfortable with co-sleeping.

Anything that has a slight incline isn’t safe for sleep. It can cause asphyxiation. Babies should be on a flat surface. There are lots of options I’ve seen people posting on fb of more portable bassinets they found on amazon (fairly cheap too). We use a halo bassinet.

I used mostly a bassinet for all my babies except my last. I had to use a rock and play for him because he had horrible reflux and laying completely flat in the bassinet caused him to choke on the fluid coming up where I had to take him to the hospital. So 2 years ago the rock and play was a life saver for him at least for the first 2 months. I was also going to use it this time as well, but now I'm not sure either, so I'm guessing  I will purchase a basic bassinet again and give it another chance

We are using a full size bassinet in our room, but we were gifted this at our baby shower. We'll use it if we travel to visit family or friends while our baby is still small enough to fit comfortably. It seems like a great portable option!

So when my daughter was born she had to be in an incubator in the special care unit for four days. They literally just folded a towel and slid it under the top of the incubator pad so she was at a slight incline. When we got to go home, I too put a small little thin blanket folded up under her bassinet mattress to keep her slightly inclined. 
Also this trick works when they’re bigger and in a real crib and they’re teething or super sick and congested. You can put a pillow under the mattress to make it an incline and it helps their jaws not hurt so much from lying flat when teething. And when they’re all congested it helps the mucus drain down their throats and not pool so it makes the, cough and gag and choke.
