Should handicap restroom stalls be ONLY for people who are handicapped?
I was in Cracker Barrel (I feel like all of my stories start out like this lol) this past Sunday and of course they were busy, it was after church. The only stall available was a handicapped stall. I had my daughter with me, so we grabbed it. When we walked out there was an older woman standing outside of the stall who told me I had no right to use it, and it was obvious I wasn’t handicapped (clearly) and so I shouldn’t be using it. I told her it was the only stall available, and a regular stall isn’t big enough for my daughter and I, plus the regular stalls do not have changing tables. She rolled her eyes and walked into the handicapped stall. I’ve always used handicapped stalls if I’ve been with my daughter, and I thought this was normal.
What are your thoughts? Do you think handicapped stalls should be only for people who are handicapped? Are there instances where people who aren’t handicapped should be able to use them?
