Dad & baby skin to skin benefits?

Did anybody’s baby(s) do skin to skin with their fathers the day they were born? Did the baby benefit from it?

It does have benefits. Smell association from a young age is very important, and helps with bonding and comfort for the little one.

My daughter did with her father after I did but idk if it did anything tbh she did try to eat from her dads nipple tho it was so funny

My daughter did this and she continued until she was about a month old to want him at least an hour a day. They have an amazing bond she totally loves her daddy and he is her safe place when mommy cant fight the boogey men away.

My husband did it. I can’t speak to scientific evidence, but he and my daughter are very close and I think it’s important for him to have that time as well. When she was little he would do skin to skin with her after bath time, and now that she’s three she still runs to cuddle with him after her bath.

Yes. Our son had skin to skin with my husband before he had it with me because I was unconscious in recovery from the c-section. My husband went with our son to the nursery area where he held him skin to skin and fed him. It was a great experience for them.

Anytime a baby has skin to skin contact is good for them. It doesn’t have to be exclusive to the mother. The contact helps regulate the baby’s body temperature and is also great for bonding and comfort. My husband spent as much time skin to skin with our baby as I did and it was great for them and their bond. I made him promise that if for any reason I wasn’t able to do skin to skin when our baby was born, that he would do it because of all the benefits to baby.

My husband never did it, mostly because this was his first experience with babies period and he was scared to hold ours at first. I wish he would have now tho because our son only ever wants me. Dad is fun for a minute but when he remembers mom isn’t holding him he freaks out a little 🙄
