Dilation question

So I feel like this is probably a dumb question- but I’m a FTM so bare with me here.

I got checked yesterday for the first time at 35+5 and I was closed & cervix was high up. Also- my baby has not dropped yet (not that I know of), I’m almost certain head down still (he was at my 29 week ultrasound and I still feel the hiccups low in my butt).

But if I’m still completely closed, up high, & haven’t dropped and I’m 36 weeks- does this mean it’s going to be awhile before I have him? Like around due date.. at 40+ weeks.

Or can you dilate, baby drop, & your cervix get lower very quickly?

I hope I’m making sense- this is so hard to word!
