Pain during pushing after epidural?

Question

I’ve never vaginally given birth. Is it painful when you have the epidural and you’re pushing? I can’t tell if it’s pain, pressure, or exhaustion. Or all three. Any comments/experiences to help me understand the experience of a vaginal birth are welcome!
Also I saw something that moms can opt to have the midwife or doctor pour oil on their vagina while they are crowning/pushing baby out to prevent a tear. Also moms can massage their vaginas with oil prior to labor to prepare. Has anyone done this? Did it work for you?

I felt nothing when I pushed baby out. Everything felt numb. I could feel something happening down there but I really didn’t feel any real pain until the next day. That’s when it all went to shit. It felt like all my insides dropped out of me and I could still feel contractions as if I was still in labor. Thank god I didn’t tear down there. I never used any oils but I did stay sexually active with my hubby the whole pregnancy so maybe that played a part as to why I didn’t tear. Everybody’s different though, so just understand that someone else’s experience may not be how yours is. Like my cousin wanted an epidural but she didn’t have time to get it because baby was ready to come out. Wishing you all the best.

I didn’t feel anything with my epidural. Just felt the urge to poop so it didn’t hinder my ability to push, he was out in less than 20 minutes. It depends on the person though. Doesn’t always work for everyone or it’ll start wearing off

pushing with an epidural, just feels like pressure. i wasn’t exhausted when it came time to push, more like a rush of adrenaline. the exhaustion comes after. this may be different for mamas who labor naturally. although with my last epidural, i felt literally nothing, because my baby came so quickly afterwords. it almost made it more difficult cause i couldn’t even feel the pressure to guide me.

I could only feel the start of my contractions  (not painful) and I could feel her once she was really on her way out. It wasn’t painful.  I guess I felt a little pressure.  I was exhausted by the last 1 or 2 pushes because I pushed for 4 hours.  I did hear of massaging before, but I couldn’t reach lol. The doctor and nurse massaged it while I was pushing. I only had superficial tears on the labia and didn’t require stitches.

I felt absolutely nothing with my epidural, it was magical. I really can’t even recall feeling much pressure, but my baby came quick, like from the time they said I was 10 centimeters to my baby being born I pushed maybe 5 min. The recovery was rough because I had an episiotomy and that’s very uncomfortable and I had slight pain in my back for a couple weeks where my epidural went in, but 4 weeks pp and I’m healed just fine.

My epidural failed, so I definitely felt a lot of pain and pressure.
I did the perineal massage for a couple months before birth. I still ended up with a second degree tear.
