Should I Take a Pregnancy Test?

I have been taking birth control for over a year now. I am sexually active and do not use any other protection when having sec other than my birth control but he has never cummed in me.

My last period ended March 28th and my next was supposed to start April 12th according to eve. I am now 9 days late. Typically before my period begins my breasts are sore and I experienced this around the time when my period was supposed to begin but never got it.

Why is my period so late? Could it be stress from school and a recently family illness? Should I take a pregnancy test and how long should I wait to take one?

Any help would be appreciated! I am getting very nervous
