L&D nurse....... did she just say that?

I have cholestasis, I called L&D bc my itching has gotten worse the last day or so and she told me to try lotion....... seriously? She should know better. Lotion doesnt really help cholestasis bc its more under your skin, your bile acids...... not a topical skin issue. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Have you tried dandelion root or milk thistle?  Both are supposed to help balance bile a bit more.  I drink dandelion root tea once a day because of gallbladder issues but I was researching cholestasis because my midwife was worried I might have it (very itchy but just dry skin) and it’s supposed to help that too as well as milk thistle.  
But I get it...I was told to use lotion when I had pupps and was scratching myself bloody 😒 you basically want to say “gfy” and hang up because you’re so freaking miserable.  Good luck xx

My doctor put me on Claritin and benedryl for my cholestasis. Sometimes calling after hours can get some bad advice. I remember one time I called and the person that answered just said, “leave a voicemail”. There was literally no option to leave one and I got sent through a terrible loop of calling and getting nothing. I told my doctor what she said and he was pissed because he told me to call if my itching ever got worse.

Why didn’t you call your doctor? They’re the ones who can prescribe you medication, not a labor and delivery nurse.
