Moving to Texas?

Question

I’m thinking of moving to Texas because it’s obviously cheaper than California but it won’t be til after my son is born and has at least his two months shots, I will be starting from scratch meaning job, school, housing all of it. Just wanted to know which parts of Texas are more diverse than others?? And is it safe to take baby out of state around two months old.

I grew up in Houston and have also lived in Austin and San Antonio. San Antonio is now my home for the past 8 years. All 3 cities are great for their own reasons. Personally I like San Antonio the best. All 3 cities have major traffic but San Antonio is the lesser of the three cities. It offers more sunny days per calendar year than Houston where it tends to rain more due to being closer to the gulf. Houston is also very flat while both Austin and San Antonio offer hill country views. All 3 are family friendly and affordable cost of living so you really can’t go wrong choosing anywhere in TX.

I live in the Dallas area, I’m also in staffing in the Dallas area :) people relocate here all the time due to the low unemployment rate, great housing prices, and opportunities! 
Just to give you an idea, my husband makes around $37/hr delivering packages for UPS. I work in an office for $60k.

Our mortgage is around $1900/mo. Gas is $2.50/gal. I’ve relocated 2 companies and around 200 employees over the last year from California due to the $$$ in the Dallas area. Better weather than Houston area also

Depends on what part of our great state you’re interested in! This state is huge and offers all different types of living. I’ve lived here since I was 3 and have no desire to go anywhere else (except on those super hot days lol). Good luck!

I live in DFW. It’s pretty diverse and still pretty affordable. Austin is great but it’s becoming very expensive.

I honestly think Houston is best ... moved there from MS  ... one of the best choice I ever made for my daughter & I ! Affordable cost of living , good jobs , caring daycares ... good luck

I also live in Cali and planning to move to Texas (houston) next year if all goes well. My family just loved there from the east coast and they love it, ive heard great things and it’s really diverse there. It should be fine to move baby out of state at 2 months old. I flew from coast to coast to move here with my first child when he was one month old.  Most airlines would like them to be at least 2 weeks old before flying.
