Are expensive travel systems really worth it?

Question

I’m so undecided about which travel system I want to get... Hubby doesn’t think it’s worth spending £1200+ on a travel system that he thinks won’t get used all that often and wants to spend £700 tops on everything - car seat, car seat base, pram and pushchair etc. (I know that’s still not ‘cheap’ but seems impossible to find something good quality in that budget)! 
I looked at a couple of cheaper options but, in all honesty, I think the looked cheap compared to some of the others I saw - namely the Uppababy Vista and Icandy Peach. 
Any advice/suggestions welcome! :)

The Venicci travel system is good, I love mine it's easy to handle comes in soo many colours and is great quality.
I'd recommend buy a 2in1 travel system and getting a car seat that will grow with baby as even though the car seat that you can get for the travel system can be used up to 13kg my daughters 6 months and 6kg she's soo bloody heavy and awkward to carry in the seat.

I'm obsessed with the Mothercare journey, one of the best, and it's £299 and comes with the whole set. Would definitely please your husband and it's up there with all these really expensive travel systems.

Strongly recommend joie chrome dlx system which you can get on a good deal for carseat base, carry cot and pushchair for about £5-600. We have in our pushchair shop outside Portsmouth. You can get a good deal. Don’t go to mothercare the warranty is only covered as long as they’re still in business. Most of the independent retailers don’t think they’ll last the year ad they have huge supplier debts.

What about second hand? I bought a Silver Cross Pioneer travel system second hand on ebay and it was in perfect condition and SO much cheaper than brand new.

Im a bit late adding to this, but it pays to shop around :)
We’ve taken a bit of a risk and gone for a set we viewed at the NEC Baby Show last weekend.
It’s a new brand ‘Urban Pushchairs’ by Bebylux (who were predominantly car seats - and well rated at that). https://www.urbanpushchairs.com
We didn’t want a separate carry cot as feel it would be wasted on us as I don’t go out a lot and we have the car so this one is a carry cot/seat combined so it’s very space saving. We’ve had a customised pram, the car seat and isofix base for £550 and it’s a beautiful set. The guy that owns the company was demo-ing was very passionate about his business and explained every little detail that had gone into it. We spent AGES messing with it, clipping/unclipping etc. Even down to the way the car seat locks onto the frame (they’ve turned the car seat handle into the locking mechanism) - it’s so simple and convenient and you’re not leaning over stretching trying to unclip things. 
I say it’s a bit of a risk because obviously its new but I wasn’t overly impressed with my initial preference (Silvercross) as I found them expensive and the carry cots felt so narrow!
Time will tell but I’m very happy with our purchase at the moment and we were prepared to spend up to £1200 for a full travel system, now we’ve managed to get some of our other big purchases with the left over money without compromising on the pram features we wanted, instead with the way we’ve customised ours colour-wise we’re going to have a pretty unique set for a while 🙂

With my first I bought a second hand uppa baby vista (new car seat though) and it was in good condition. I just bought a new mattress for the carry cot as my daughter slept in it overnight. T was old but I also bought a silver cross stroller for a holiday when My little one was 10 months and never went back to the old pram as it was much more convenient and compact. I found once baby was here I didn’t care at all about what it looked like - just how easy it was to store/ fold etc one handed in the rain!

Have a look at discount pram centre. They do amazing deals which includes packages. I bought my egg pram from there. Yes we paid £1300 but that included car seat  base, pram including newborn and toddler seat changeover, seat liner, raincovers, changing bag and prob more but I can't remember 😂. Oh and a free 4d scan! They do lots of other prams and have offers starting from like £500 xx

I got the mamas and papas sola2 6 piece bundle for 600ish. That included the car seat and isofix base. Pram frame with carry cot and seat and all the adapters and a cup holder
