Anyone here from Northern VA?

My husband was born and raised there, and we are moving back hopefully by the end of the summer. I’ve never been, and I’m just wanting some “mama” feedback about best schools, best areas to live in, etc. Any and all advice very welcome!!!

It’s expensive! That’s my feedback lol. I just checked on costs to put my almost 3 yr old and a baby into daycare. It’s easily 1500-2000 a month for them. 
Other than that I did a bunch of research (because I wanted to move from here) and I’d say it will depend on how close to the city you want to/have to live. 
If you can afford to live further south Fredericksburg has some good school; I’d stay out of Prince William county though for schools unless your going to a private school. Fairfax County has some good schools, Leesburg has some as well. 
I was considering moving further south to mechanicsville va; they have good schools but it’s about an hour and a half south of the city. 
I’ve live in Fairfax for along time and the south county schools used to be super good but they are mostly ok now. 🤷‍♀️

Hi I grew up there! If you can afford it McLean is the best area to live in. I would say Ashburn is really good in that it’s clean, safe, and the schools are really strong. Leesburg is also good. I personally wouldn’t live in Arlington or Alexandria with a family but if you want to be close to dc those are also options. Let me know if you have any questions about specific schools or anything!
