How accurate are ultrasounds for determining weight?

I had an ultrasound this morning and was told my baby boy is in the 70th percentile for his weight. He's 4.7 pounds they said. I'm 31+5. I have another ultrasound in a month to check again, they said if he's too big I'll have to be induced. Any one have experience with this? I don't want to be induced again 😓

Not at all. At 37 weeks told me he was weighing 7lbs that he should gain half a pound or a pound when hes born, so 7.5lbs or 8lbs. Alright he was born 39 weeks and weighed 9.2lbs

They told my sister that my nephew was gonna be 10+ lb but he was 6 lb

Not very. They said my son would be 13 lbs and he came out 7.14 lbs
My daughter was suppose to be 10 she came out 6.11lbs

The weight is usually pretty off. I was informed I would have an 8 and a half pound baby.  He was 6 pounds 13oz

Not at all. I was “supposed” to have a 9+ lb baby. He was born 2 days before his DD at 7lb4oz

Completely wrong for me. Told me my first was huge, 4 weeks bigger than she should be. Wasn't right at all. She was born just before 40 weeks at 7lb 10oz. We don't induce where I am for weight because it's hardly ever accurate.

They aren’t very accurate at all. That’s not to say that it can’t ever be accurate though. Yes there are some cases it’s very on point and your baby may come out close to the weight they’ve predicted but there’s also a lot of times it’s not correct. With my son at 32 weeks I was told he was about 3lb11oz. I had another check on at 37 weeks where I was told he was about 6lb5oz. They say baby gains about a 1/2 lbs every week in the last month of pregnancy. If that was the case my son would have been around about 7 lbs when born (almost) 3 weeks later. I had him two days early at 39w5d and he weighed 5lb6oz. So he was actually a whole pound less than what they predicted at my 37 weeks appointment. If he gained a 1/2 lb a week, with his birth weight, he would have been about 4 lbs at 37 weeks. Hope that helps.
