tea tree oil for pimples?

i used to have clear skin, i would get some pimples here and there but nothing too drastic. in february my skin started to go down hill. i started to get acne on my forehead and between my eyebrows mainly. i’ve popped them and have some acne scars, i heard that tea tree oil works. have any of you ever tried it and did it work? if so do i apply it directly to the pimple or do i have to dilute the tea tree oil with water?

Tea tree oil is very strong. I love the smell, some people hate it. Just like any other medication, you need to use it for several weeks/a few months before expecting results. With that said, it’s been my go-to for all skin ailments, including acne, for many years. I find two things really helpful and soothing: 1) If I have itchy or irritated skin (or a particularly bad breakout), I get a very warm wash cloth, and put 1-2 drops on the cloth, and then use it as a compress. For acne, I get one of the travel bottles from Walmart, fill it up 3/4 way with unscented and non pore-clogging lotion, like Cetaphil, but usually the store brand, and add 15-20 drops or so. I have used it much more concentrated, but it’s not recommended to do so, particularly because it causes skin irritation for some people if it’s not diluted correctly.

My whole family uses it! I get some onto a q tip and put it right on the zit undiluted, and repeat every time it’s absorbed into my skin (like every half hour to an hour.) if your skin is really sensitive you might need to dilute it. But it really can help! I tend to get really big zits and it takes them down to tiny ones in a day or two.
