Anyone had a premie?

So my daughter was born 35&5 and We were lucky that she was just badly jaundiced and not feeding well at first. Im now pregnant due September and it’s likely to happen again if not earlier and I want to know what to expect if they need to spend time in the nicu. Can you share your stories please x

Hi. My son wasn’t premature however he became very poorly soon after delivering and was in NICU for a month. He was full term born by scheduled c-section, however he had a lot of fluid in his lungs that caused him to stop breathing, he also got sepsis so it was a very emotional rocky road. NICU staff was absolutely amazing and worked very heard at saving my little boys life. Everyone was very surprised he pulled through! Everyone experiences in NICU will be very different but will all be one of the hardest times of your life! I had a little girl at home too who also needed me. Unfortunately after I was discharged from the maternity ward I had to go home which was so hard to do leaving your baby at the hospital but staff assured me that I could go to see my boy at anytime of day or night   He finally got to come home on oxygen after a months stay. He was on oxygen at home for the following 3 months. Now he’s 5 months and fighting fit! You wouldn’t believe he’s the same baby.

My oldest son was born at 33wks completely healthy but he spent 16days in NICU being tube fed till he gained the sucking reflex at 35wks.. my second son came on his planned c-section date at 39wks and my little girl came at 38wks planned c-section again..😊

My daughter was preemie too, 35+4. She spent a day and half in NICU as she had some wheezing on her chest and for precautionary antibiotics. We spent a total of 9 days in hospital due to severe jaundice needing phototherapy treatment which then caused too much weight loss due to dehydration. 
Anyways, you’re technically high risk because of having a preemie, but doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll go early again. My mum had my older brother at 35 weeks, me bang on due date and younger brother 8 days late. Each pregnancy will be different.

Our daughter was born at 34 weeks and they suspected we both had an infection.  She was in intensive care for 2 days for assistance with breathing and IV antibiotics.  She then spent another couple of days in HDU before we both moved into transitional care.  By the point we moved into transitional care she just needed some time under the blue light for jaundice and to work on feeding so we could get rid of the feeding tube.  Overall we were in hospital for 11 days.
