“like my hair? gee thanks, just bought it”— offensive or not? (read description first)

i apologize if this has been done before, when i searched it i couldn’t find anything. if this is already a topic please let me know and tell me the title if you can.

so there has been a bit of backlash surrounding these particular lyrics.

“many have said the lyric "You like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it," whitewashes the politics surrounding hair in black communities.”

to add fuel to the fire, ariana reposted a fan’s instagram story reading "White women talking about their weaves is how we're gonna solve racism."

personally i do not see the problem with talking about fake hair and the sort as i don’t think they belong prominently to black women. i don’t think it’s the same thing as box braids or cornrows (that’s a whole different argument we don’t need to get into right now). now the instagram story she reposted i find kind of ignorant. i think it’s ridiculous she would even say that because how is a white person positively advertising wigs going to affect black women who wear them? i mostly just think it was a really stupid thing to do and she should have known how people would react. however, i am a white woman and will never try to speak on what is offensive for all non-white folks. i just wanted to come here to see how everyone feels about this.
